Expert Witness Services
My expertise at your service
The nature of my work during the last 10 years, as a lead clinician at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, as a consultant at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court and with ProActive Prosthetics, has meant that the majority of patients I worked with had suffered limb loss because of a trauma. Therefore, as a result of working with this particular patient group, I have gained considerable experience and exposure to more advanced fitting and technology. I believe this makes me one of the most experienced prosthetists in this area of Prosthetic Rehabilitation and entitles me to give expert opinion evidence.
I have worked as an Expert Witness for the past 6 years, accepting instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors. I have a keen interest in progressing my experience and skills as an Expert Witness, undertaking recognised Expert Witness training. I am a vetted member on the UK register of Expert Witnesses, writing 6 to 8 reports per year. https://www.jspubs.com
Full Prosthetic Report:
A full prosthetic report is aimed specifically at those clients who are going through a legal compensation claim
The prosthetic report covers areas such as incident history, personal history, prosthetic rehabilitation history, physical examination, prosthetic opinion and prognosis, prosthetic recommendations with costs. The medical aspect is not the subject of a prosthetic report, nor is it my area of specialty. These aspects are covered in the patient’s hospital records and reports.
Desktop Prosthetic Report:
Desktop reports are usually prepared without examining your client such as in the case of clients with amputated digits, unless there is a need for your client to be seen in person by a clinician. Up-to-date photos and relevant medical reports are required for this service.
How to proceed
Please do not hesitate to contact me, and If my terms are acceptable, I would require a formal letter of instruction and confirmation of your acceptance of my fees. Once this has been received, I will then proceed with making an appointment for your client.
If instructing me to proceed, it is beneficial that copies of any previous medical reports, i.e. Prosthetic, Orthopaedic Surgeon’s reports and limb fitting records are supplied prior to the consultation with your client. I would ask that where possible any relevant documentation be provided to me in digital format.
I would advise that in general reports will take up 6-8 weeks for completion following the date of examination. This can increase depending on the amount of research/background reading necessary in preparation of the report.
